The truth about 'Stairway to heaven'

This video discusses the possibility of subliminal messages in the song ‘Stairway to heaven’ by the Sex pistols. A part of the song is played as the lyrics are shown for us to follow. But then it is played backwards, this time with the satanic lyrics the song contains. Later on, the video creator is heard singing the song himself. He then plays it backwards, and we can still hear the satanic lyrics. He ends his article by affirming that some of the controversial lyrics that are heard when the song is played backwards were intentionally inserted in the song.

  1. This brings us back to the question of censorship! Even if people always talk about freedom and democraty, dont you think we also have the right to be protected from those king of messages to which we are completely exposed and vulnerable?

  2. I must say I was pretty surprised myself. I lways knew that this band didn't have a clean past, but I never thought they were that eccentric.
Many would say that is is a way for them to express themselves. This is just an excuse to keep these subliminal messages. If any artist (or group of artists) wants to express an thought, they should do so in a clear and direct way (instead of dissimulating). Some would respond to this statement by saying it is too controversial. But isn't art just another way to cause controversy? And make people think? People can't think if they are manipulated. Why do I say manipulated? Because subliminal messages influence people or make them do some things. Therefore, I believe there shoul be a policy to protect us from these forms of manipulation.

  3. To answer to Lilia's question, I think it shouldn't necessarily be censored but there should be limits in what people write or say in videos, songs and even advertisements.
